They are wanting to tell us something,
the future people
The people of whom we are the ancestors
Yet they are the wiser
They are wanting to tell us
that what we do now matters
They want us to know that they see
the dismembered ways that we live
and how difficult it is for us to re-member
how to return to the family of all things
But their existence is testament
to the fact that it is possible
They know we feel trapped by this system
of entanglements and obligations,
and the amputations of our imaginations
in a system that only ever intended
to keep us blind to the bars of our cages
But they want to remind us
that there was a time
when we could not imagine a world order
that was not based on the divine rights of kings
And before that even, there was a time
when we knew what it was to belong
When we knew we were Eland, Mantis and Dancer
When we knew we were the firefly and the ocean,
the stuff of stars and the breath of birds.“
Poem by Claire Rousell
As a creature of this Earth, taking on the pose of a Praying Mantis, a symbol for stillness, patience, calmness, intuition and balance in the midst of life’s chaos, I choose to move in silence like Nature does.
While it’s been a natural and slow journey, gradually overcoming trials and life tribulations, from my nomadic, untethered Soul’s perspective it feels like a deliberate surrender into self-introspection and self-mastery — by reviewing what is hidden shadow material, deciding on what needs to be discarded to close out cycles and what to transmute and patiently reintegrate back into my personality.
Through this process I’ve learned to see and express my unique Self. Learning how to alchemize the Silver, for Love’s sake, into Gold — to bring Light where it’s still Dark.
This solo journey has been tough and lonely at times, yet it has been unexplicably rewarding and enriching. Feeling this glowing, grounded Joy so profoundly in the core of my Human Soul Nature has been everything I ever wished for.
Learning how to train my mind to relinquish control and acknowledge, accept and release all the buried subconscious abandonment trauma and ingrained low vibrational energies of fear and guilt. Learning how to see the beauty within, how to relax into my heart, how to cultivate and build up a stronger unique inner knowing through non-attachment.
Growth is not a light switch, to me it’s a repetitive Dance from Dark into Light into Colour. Rather than reverting to the old habit of dutifully trying to ‘forgive or forget’ I have faced my shadows and met them naked in the eye. I’ve drawn them, painted them, danced with them, written, laughed and cried them out. These Dark Nights of the Soul revealed everything I was ashamed of — the deep known and unknown, so I could begin to heal.

Bringing The Silver Out
A Self-portrait Series
Oil on canvas, 2022
100x150 cm
The women who is a Virgin, one in herself, does what she does not for power or out of the desire to please, but because what she does is true. She is the part of us [in men and women] who is outcast, the part that comes to consciousness through going into darkness, mining our leaden darkness, until we bring her silver out.

The Bowl
Oil on paper, 2022
50x65 cm
The Sacred Union
The earth force of the Divine Feminine energy flows into the pelvis and begins to form a bowl, a wonderful, unique, stable bowlc a model for the womb. In this shell the feminine creative power consciously guards wisdom and life to eventually bring it out. Her Divine focus is inward, for the processes take place within her. Therefore she experiences herself through her inner experience and feeling. Her lap space is her compass — it knows exactly what life serves and what doesn’t, and has confidence in itself and its rhythm. The power of the feminine becomes active when it’s open and wide, and ready to be fertilized by Divine Masculine energy.
The earth force of the Divine Masculine energy flows like red hot magma into the pelvis and from there on to the abdominal space. Even as a man you have that same kind of bowl in which you nurture your ideas until they are ripe to be born. When the magma enters that space, a white fire arises like a gigantic campfire — the fire of the masculine creative power with which we fertilize the world. The Divine Masculine energy is focused outwardly, it expresses itself in conscious deeds. His fire becomes active when it’s open to fertilize a space of creation outside himself. To let it be fed and nurtured from within by Divine Feminine energy in order to provide the vitality and enthusiasm for what we want to realize and put into conscious and healthy projects.

Restoring Of The Serpent
Oil on paper, 2022
50x65 cm
As one aspect of Sophia, or Wisdom, the Virgin, Madonna, Yin energy, Shakti..., the image of the serpent can awake a woman to the mystery of life being
enacted in her own body. For a woman without a positive mother the ‘dark’ or ‘lower’ side of Sophia can bring the security of freedom, because she is a natural home for the rejected child. The child born from the rejected side of the mother can bring her own rebel to rest in the outcast state of the Virgin. In loving the abandoned child within herself, a woman becomes pregnant with herself. The child that her mother did not nourish, she will now nourish. Therefore, the archetypal image of the serpent could be seen as an appendix of the Dark Mother, used to guard inviolate purity, and at the same time as a capacity to renew itself. Symbolically, the spirit of a serpent is known to be seen as a rebirth, a transformation, a healing of the old form (be that mind, body, and spirit) as it sheds its skin and regenerates a new being. So the daughter who is able to come out from under the skin of the Dark Mother will not perpetuate her, but redeem her. Therefore, it is key to restore the image and spirit of the so-called ‘evil and wicked’ serpent. Instead, we could honour her as the patron of the abandoned daughters who rejoice in their outcast state and can use it to renew the world.
Note: Kundalini energy also moves like a serpent from the Root to the Crown Chakra, and can be awakened through spiritual practice.

The Sacral
Oil on canvas, 2022
80x60 cm
I allow nurturance and comfort.
My relationships are safe.
Sexuality is sacred.
My emotions are grounded and balanced.
I feel creative and energized from within.
When our sacral chakra is opening we experience the invigoration and vitality of this energy. The sacral chakra is our center of creativity and passion. When this energy is flowing and balanced we feel inspired and energized. This allows us to enjoy and understand the process of conscious creativity, experiencing cosmic sexuality as sacred (with only yourself and/or your partner) and of manifesting passionate dreams and healthy desires. This energy is the physical expression of our spiritual power.
